Human-Robot Interaction & Simulation

Explores how humans interface with, teach, and control complex robotic systems using immersive technologies.

Key Topics

  • Human-swarm interaction
  • Human-in-the-loop (HITL) learning
  • Software-in-the-loop (SITL) simulations
  • Mixed Reality (MR) and Virtual Reality (VR)
  • Human-computer interaction

Overview

As robots become more prevalent, the way humans interact with them must evolve. We investigate novel interfaces—including virtual and mixed reality—to allow human operators to intuitively command large swarms of robots. By keeping the “human in the loop,” we ensure that autonomous systems can safely navigate scenarios that require human intuition and moral judgment.
